Ryan had everything ready before he sent his message to Miss Tate so he really just waited for the first bell to ring. He went over his roster and sighed in relief when he saw the he wouldn't have Kaleb and Keira in the same class. Kaleb did eventually come back and retook his seat in the back corner. He didn't seem to be in a sour mood so Ryan would thank Miss Tate later for defusing the situation. He started handing out the syllabus. He ran his class a little differently than most. Each quarter they would have two major tests. They were to at least look over the material and pay attention in class so they would succeed on them but the homework for each quarter wasn't considered late until the quarter ended. That way whether they wanted to do it all up ahead of time or wait until last minute, as long as he had it in his hand by the end of the day on the last day of the quarter, it still counted. It was all outlined in the syllabus as well as every homework assignment they would do. He didn't believe in pop quizzes. People, even adults, tended to freeze up and forget everything they knew when you put them on the spot so in his mind it wasn't fair.

Shannon smiled when she saw the handsome boy return to class. He didn't sit next to her this time though. She hoped that he hadn't gotten in to too much trouble, he hadn't done anything wrong. She looked over the papers that the teacher had passed out. It looked like she might actually do alright, at least in this class. She was great at tests if she knew they were coming. It was the pop quizzes and masses of homework that got her all flustered.

Kaleb figured Shannon was not even interested in being friends with him anymore after the display Keira had put on. After he read through the syllabus with a smirk he looked over at her to see if he could catch her gaze.
Naevia caught Kaleb looking at Shannon repeatedly. She didn't know what his deal was but she figured she should probably warn her. Although, they did seem to be getting along before the outburst. She wrote Shannon a note that simply said, "Trouble looking your way" with a smiley face with the tongue sticking out.

Shannon looked at the note and then looked at the young girl, mildly confused. Finally looking past her she saw him, they caught each other's eyes at just the same time. She couldn't help it, she blushed slightly and gave him a goofy smirk.

Kaleb smiled at Shannon and mouthed "Sorry." He noticed the blush and wondered why. He winked at her and went back to looking at his paperwork.
Naevia giggled and continued her note. "You think he's hot!"
Ryan handed out books and then started his lesson for the day, writing furiously on the board while he explained everything for that night's homework. His sense of humor added into the way he taught and he used anecdotes that the students could relate to and therefore remember the material easier.

She looked back at her desk when he winked at her. She noticed another note showed up on her desk as she was copying what was being put on the board. Yeah, she kinda did. She didn't understand why no one else seemed to. She just looked at the tiny girl and shrugged. She was trying to stay cool.

Kaleb wasn't paying attention to class. He kept looking over at Shannon trying to figure her out. She seemed like she was paying attention which either meant she was really studious or bad at math. In a way he kind of hoped she was so he could offer to tutor her. He wanted to get to know her. She was funny and she smelled nice. Naevia wrote another note because she really wasn't paying too much attention to class either. "He's still looking at you. I think he likes you too! "

Shannon was trying to follow along. They were far ahead of where she was at back in Boston and she was shite at math to begin with. Then there was another note on her desk. She felt herself getting even more pink, she was having an internal war with herself not to look at him. It was a war she lost, she turned to see him looking at her again. She was glad her hair was down, cause she felt her ears turn bright red. She just bit her lip and smiled and then quickly turned back to her notes. She could easily get stuck starring at him for hours!

Kaleb loved that he could make her blush. He wanted to bite that full lower lip. He wanted to get his fingers caught in her mass of curls. Hell he just wanted to pin her to the wall and kiss her stupid.
Ryan only lectured for about twenty minutes and let them have the rest of the class to do their homework, ask him questions, talk - as long as they didn't get too loud, or play on their phones.

Shannon took down all the notes and then looked over the homework. She was screwed. It all look like a jumbled mess to her. So many letters and numbers, it all just got twisted in her head. She sat back in her chair with an exaspereated sigh. "Bullocks, I dun'nae think I'm gonna make it in 'ere. I think I got signed up for the wrong math class. Numbers and letters dun'nae belong in the same place!"

Naevia giggled at her. "You're just overthinking it. It's easy, I promise. And there are plenty of math tutors. If you want I can help you out. I'm decent at it."
Kaleb heard the conversation and cursed himself for not sitting closer to her. Of course he wouldn't be able to yell over the class that he could help her. Math just made sense to him. He worked through his homework quickly, took him five minutes, and then closed his book. He wondered how he could get her attention and tell her that he could give her a few shortcuts that would make her life so much easier in this class.

Shannon tried to figure it out and after failing to get the answer even close to right on the first three problems, she just shut her book with a huff. "Feck it, I'll deal with it later." She mumbled only slightly louder than she intended. She leaned her head back over the back of her chair and just looked around, her eyes settling on the handsome man child in the back again. She didn't know if having him in class was going to make her be able to focus more or less.

Kaleb knew she was looking at him. He could see her out of the corner of his eye. He whipped his head towards hers and stuck his tongue out at her. "Shouldn't you be doing your homework?" He tried to whisper but his voice was so deep that it travelled.

She felt a shiver run down her spine. The deep rumble of his voice rolled over her. She turned to look him full in the face. "I decided that I would give it a shot later when it made sence.... so in another ten or twenty years. If'fin I'm lucky." She had no issues admitting where her flaws were. Everyone was bad at something. She could do basic math. But Algebra had always tripped her up.

Kaleb smirked at her. He had the benefit of most people ignoring him because of his past with them so he didn't mind talking through them. "I've already finished mine. Want to know a trick?" He was baiting her to see if she'd bite. He'd love to spend more time with her.
