Ryan set up his room for his students, putting out his sign for the Juniors to see. He hoped this year was better than last year but he didn't have high hopes. Kaleb Draconis was in his home room this year. Last year he had been a terror so he could only imagine what was going to happen. He was hoping that maybe the boy had worked everything out this summer and came back changed. Those were high hopes though.

Karra walked in with her hat still on her head. She as a country girl through and through. "Woowee, thank the gods above, Kaleb ain't here yet." She plopped her stuff down next to a desk and looked at the teacher, she'd had him in years passed he was a good guy. "Mr. Bennett, please tell me that thing finally got put in juvy or military school or somethin'!"

Ryan smiled at Karra. "Good morning Miss Alwine. Kaleb will still be joining us sometime this morning." He got her displeasure. He wasn't all that pleased that he was still in this school.
Landread walked into the class after visiting the band room and depositing his guitar there. He looked around the room and smirked at Karra. "Hey girl. How was your summer?"
Naevia walked in and breathed a sigh of relief. The monster wasn't in yet. She was hoping he wouldn't come in at all. "Morning guys." She sat down and pulled out the newest book she'd got from her mother.

"Howdy y'all. Oh you know, same shit different day. Just been working at the barn. Got a barrel race commin this friday. How's the band thing going for ya? Y'all signed and touring with Shinedown or somethin yet?" She smirked at the pretty city boy that had joined them just a few years earlier. He was damned easy on the eyes, but a little scrawny for her taste. And she was pretty sure that if he ever actually got on a horse, he would shit himself the first time it reared.
"Mornin' girly." Karra nodded to Naevia, she was a sweet girl, they just didn't seem to run with the same crowd. But, she was always friendly and they had shared several classes over the years. And they had bonded in sixth grade when Kaleb had spent the entire year convincing everyone they were lesbian lovers. Which was slightly less offensive then the fact that he'd been telling people that she let her horses fuck her for the last eight years. Part of her felt back for him, she couldn't imagine what he went through with loosing his momma and everything, but he chose how to react to it... and for most of the time she'd known him, he'd chosen to be a little twat.

Landread chuckled. "Not yet although that would be great. Shinedown is such an awesome band. I can't believe you know who they are. Don't you listen to Dierks Bentley and shit like that?" He loved poking fun at her. Mostly because of her reactions and she knew it was just for fun. Not like what Kaleb had done to her.
At that moment, the monster walked in. Kaleb had gone through a growth spurt so now he was a little over six feet tall and he had gained quite a bit of muscle due to his father's training all summer. He felt better. They had both made a breakthrough. But looking at the faces he had tormented over the years twist into angry masks at the sight of him, he felt a pit growing in his gut. He was sorry he had made their lives hell. But how does one adequately apologize for that? There was no going back. He had a reputation now and it wasn't a good one. He'd just have to deal with it. He didn't say anything, didn't make a face, he walked to the back of the room and plopped his ass in a chair and pulled out his phone so he could ignore them all.

"Boy, I listen to everything! And screw you, Dierks Bentley is fine! And how do you know who he is?" She gave him a knowing smirk. Landread listened to everything, but he didn't want everyone to know that. He was suppose to be this dark rocker man. She looked up as Kaleb walked in, Holy Fuck, he'd gotten huge! Karra saw a small glint of something cross his face, it almost looked like regret, but she wasn't sure. It was only for a second before it was gone.
Shannon came running into the room, her messenger bag thrown over her shoulder, her black curls a mess around her framing a pair of almost glowing green eyes. "Piss! Sorry, Im'ma not late am I?" The strap of her bag got caught on the door handle, yanking her backwards. "Feck!" She turned to the man sitting behind the desk. "Sorry, Really. Ballocks. Great first impression. I'm just gonna sit." She grabbed a seat in the back of the room, she turned to the man child sitting a few seats away. " 'ello."

Landread decided to ignore Kaleb's presence altogether. Just as he was about to speak back to Karra, a bumbling girl of curls stumbled through the door. He covered his mouth to not laugh too hard at her. He looked back at Karra, shaking because he was trying to hold his laughter in and just mouthed, "Really?"
Ryan maintained his professional appearance outwardly but inwardly he was laughing his ass off at the girl. "You're not late. You're fine. Take a load off."
Kaleb heard the whole mess but hadn't looked up from his phone. It wasn't until he heard the heavily accented feminine voice beside him that he looked up confused. For a minute he was lost in her bright green eyes but he shook himself out of it. "Um, hi. You ok?" A slight smirk cracked his face. He couldn't help it. She sounded like a total clutz.

Karra just watched the girl enter, she looked like a baby foal trying to get her legs under her. She just locked eyes with Landread, trying not to burst out laughing.
"Yeah, thanks. Eh, I'm alright. Me dad would say that I've angered the wee folk, but he's piss drunk and crazy as a loon, so. Sorry, I've got a grand ability to make a complete arse of me self." She pushed her hair back out of her face then offered her hand to the "boy". "Shannon. O'Shea. Pleasure."

Maybe this was his chance. Maybe if the others could see him acting normal and making a friend they might see that he'd changed. He took her hand and shook it. "Kaleb Draconis. Don't worry. I've done that one more than one occasion." And that was putting it lightly. He smiled at her.
Keira walked in to the room and rolled her eyes at Kaleb's presence. She saw him smiling at a new girl and figured she should save her before he turned into a jackass again. She walked up to him. "Morning asshole." Then she turned to the new girl. "Hi. My name is Keira. And you really don't want to give him any vital information about yourself unless you want him to make you feel like a termite, slut or incompetent. He's a jerk to everyone. There is no exception. Sorry to ruin your morning."
Kaleb glared up at Keira. Of course she would have to ruin his one chance at making a friend. She turned back to him. "What? Another insult bitch?"
Keira put both hands on the desk in front of him and got down into his face. "You're done here. I'm going to get you expelled this year. You have no future, fry boy."
He couldn't handle it anymore. He'd tried. He braced his feet against the legs of his desk and pushed it into her hard. He looked at Mr. Bennett. "Yeah yeah. I know my way." He grabbed his backpack and looked at Shannon. "It was nice meeting you." And then he turned and walked out the door yelling at the underclassmen to get the fuck out of his way.

Karra watched the interlude between Keira and Kaleb. She turned back to Landread. "Well, that seemed like a bit much. I swear those two are made for each other." Yay, another year of the K & K Cuntfest.
Shannon just gave a really confused look her face. He had seemed so genuine, at least for the thirty seconds she got to talk to him. Unlike the tiny brunette that just walked in like she owned the place. Wow, this place was going to be just as bad as Boston. She was hoping that it was going to be quieter, people were suppose to be nicer in the midwest. She would find the boy with the scar on his eyebrow later. Right now she was sizing up the bitchy one in nothing but black leather.

Keira recovered quickly. She wasn't hurt but she had gotten him out of the classroom. That alone made her proud. That was her ultimate goal. If she pissed him off enough, he'd want to leave and never come back. She sat down in the front of the room.
Ryan stood and walked to the front of Keira's desk. He may be human but he wasn't blind. He spoke in a low tone. "That was uncalled for. You ever do that again in my presence and I have time for detentions. Got it?" Before Keira could speak he interrupted. "Good. Now why don't you follow him to the principal's office so she can hear both sides of what happened. Get moving." He stood and waited for her to gather her bag and walked out of the room all huffy.

"Bloody well right!" Shannon caught herself speaking out loud then looking around. It was the first day and no one else had stuck up for the boy. Maybe being on his side wasn't popular opinion. Not that she cared, but she didn't want everyone to hate her on the first day.
"Oh, sorry, my bad. I mean... That sucks...... Hi, I'm Shannon. I'm from Boston, my parents are from the low country, cross the pond. I like long walks on the beach and I talk too blood much.... Right...."

Landread couldn't help but laugh out loud. The girl was clearly out of her element. "I'm Landread from right here in Kansas. This little nugget is Karra. She's a spitfire so watch out. And the quiet one is Naevia. Be careful. She may be quiet now but once she gets to know you she's anything but." He winked at both girls as he introduced them. "How are you liking Kansas?"

"Right 'oh. Pleasure. And it's alright, I s'pose. It dun'nae smell like salt and piss, so it's a step up from where I was at. We just moved in a 'bout a month back. It's kinda in the middle of nowhere, which I didn't know know was possible in a city, but me Ma had to have a yard big enough to land a jet liner in."
She sat back and tried to relax a bit. "So, is it always this excitin'. Or are they just puttin' on a show for the first day?"
Karra nodded at the girl. "Nah, for those two, it's normally how it goes. It's hard to figure out which one is a bigger pain in the ass, somtimes."

"It's true. Being in the same grade as them hasn't been easy. I'm hoping that they both get booted out by the new principal." Naevia closed her book and turned around in her seat. It was nice to actually talk to people since her summer was so quiet. "Hey, have you guys seen Lance? I heard he was returning this year." She hadn't heard much about what happened with him but she knew it was something to do with his younger sister. It was rumored that she was starting this year too.
Landread shrugged. "I didn't see him when I came in."
Ryan looked at the clock and then spoke up. "Alright crazies. Class starts in ten minutes. Shannon, if you need help finding your classes let me know and I can draw you a map." He said it all with a smirk on his face. The real crazies had left earlier.
