Izzy stood on her desk as the kids came in. She was so short it allowed her to get their attention right away and she loved seeing the looks on their faces.
"Welcome everyone. I hope that your first hour teachers didn't put you all back to sleep. Welcome to journalism. We will be writing ALOT in this class. Get used to it. Starting next month we will be producing a monthly newspaper. There will be guidelines for the articles, but for the most part you will be free to choose what you write about. We will have some particular types of journalistic writings we will be going over, but for the most part this is a student ran class. You tell me what is important to you. So, pick a seat and write down on that sheet of paper three things that you are interested in that you may want to write about before the year is over."
She jumped down off the desk. "By the way, My name is either Ms. Cavaletti or Izzy. Only my parents and people more familiar than you call me Isabelle. And if you call me Belle or Bella, I will fail you! Just so we're clear." She smiled at the kids a genuine smile. She really did love teaching.
Kat had quietly taken a seat all the way in the back, she didn't like people being behind her. She just stared at her paper, not really sure what to write.
Alli laughed at the woman's antics. She figured she was going to like her. She mulled over her paper. Writing some ideas. "Sports, Cars, Animals."

Lydia, Kylianne and Raven all sat relatively close to Alli. They giggled at the teacher all thinking this was going to be a fun class. They actually got to write a newspaper. They quickly jotted down their topics.
Lydia - Fashion trends over time, reality tv, and animals Kylianne - Makeup, gossip of the stars, and movies Raven - Technology, music, and Cars
Seri came in and sat quietly in a seat towards the middle of the room. She wrote down "Women in the workplace, Automotive trends, and Shoes."
Shailynn sat across the room from Seri. She looked at the paper and contemplated what to write. She finally settled for "DIY projects, Copycats of brand names, and Artwork."
Marie sat next to Shay. "Clothing, Actors and Actresses, and World Art."
Naevia sat all by her lonesome until Landread came in and sat next to her. She leaned over and whispered to him about the interlude between Kaleb and SHannon and how he asked her out and she actually accepted. He chuckled. He couldn't wait to tell Karra in their next class.
Naevia - "Famous artists, Theatre, Foreign Languages" Landread - "Music, Music, Music"
Keira came in and sat down looking for Kaleb, but he wasn't there. She plopped in her seat and huffed. But when he walked in she sat up straighter and smirked at him. Kaleb groaned and picked a seat far away from her. When she got up to move closer to him, Landread blocked her way. "Uh uh."
"What do you care?" she hissed at him.
He sat back in his chair and looked up at her with an arched eyebrow. "I just do. I'd like to have a pleasant class. Sit your ass back down."
She snarled at him but sat back in her original spot.
Keira - Bullying, Exploitation, Blackmailing Kaleb - Computers, Automotives, and Politics

Izzy walked around the room gathering up the papers and looking over them over as she went. Most of them were typical, and went a long way to show the age of the people in the room. When got to Keira's paper she looked it over with a concerned face. She knelt down next to the girl and spoke quietly.
"Are we going to have a problem? Cause if we are I can have you moved into another class now? I don't have time for attitudes and vendettas. I don't care what it's about, you got me?"

Keira tried not to look like a petulant child when she looked up at the teacher. "There's no problem ma'am."
Landread smirked a little giving his paper to the teacher wondering if she'd say anything about it. Music was his life. He ate, slept, breathed and dreamed about it.

"Glad to hear it." She fished picking up the papers and walked back to the front of the room.
"Today will be the only day we are writing on paper. When you leave class today, pick up a flash drive with your name on it. It had been assigned to you, anything on it is your responsibility. The computers you see stupid tot is what we will be using while at school, save it and work on it at home as needed with your flash drive. For today, this may seem a bit morbid, but I give it yields interesting and amusing results. You are going to write me your obituary. It can be serious, it can fee funny, that's up to you. What would you expect to our like to see written about you after you're gone. You can start now, it's due next class. Let me know if you have any questions."

Kyli and Lydia looked at Izzy in disbelief. They were supposed to write what? Raven pulled out her notebook and started writing. It was just a project. She wrote about her fame and fortune at beating out Bill Gates in the world of technology, however she was a spinster and when she died all her money went to the Children's Mercy Hospital.
Seri wrote about her family, husband and children, and her success, owning her own body shop, and so on.
Landread wrote about his fame in his music career and how much his wife and mistresses would miss him. All his money went to the fifty million kids he'd sired.
Naevia wrote about her success as an actress, her husband and child.
Shailynn wrote about her success at being a clown for children's birthday parties. She died a poor woman and all of her costumes and wigs were donated to the circus.
Keira wrote an elaborate obituary about her success as a lawyer, how much she had helped the world and how much her family and friends would miss her. Her vast amounts of money was donated to beneficial research facilities.
Marie and Kaleb's were similar. Each wrote about their family and their simple lives. They died happy and would be missed. They weren't rich monetary-wise, but they were rich in love.

Alli wrote about her success as a professional stunt woman and her time with the women's rugby team. Talked about all of her daring acts. Base jumping from the space needle, skydiving over death valley. And she died surrounded by friends, laughing about the past.
Kat just stared at her paper. She was at a loss. She didn't know what to write. She had prayed for death a thousand times. She wrote all she could think of. "This was what she wanted, the pain is gone, where she goes now isn't scary. She goes with peace and She couldn't follow. She's free."

"So are we handing these in to you now or are we hanging on to them?" Landread addressed Izzy quietly. He wondered if she was going to read them outloud or keep them to herself. His was pure bullshit. He wasn't confident at all about his music career. The only time he felt anywhere close to it was when Karra was complimenting him.

Izzy looked up from her computer, "If you're happy with it you can turn it in. Otherwise hold on to it until next class. I have a plan for them." She gave a devious smile.
Kat just stared doodling around the edge of the paper. She really didn't know what to say. She hoped it was good enough.

Landread decided to keep his and let Karra read it first. She'd probably get a kick out of it and smack him at the same time. He looked around the room to see who else was done that was worth talking to. He saw a little dark haired girl doodling on her page so he leaned over and whispered to her. "Hey, what did you write about?"

She looked up, startled and covered her paper with her arms. She shook her head, why did people keep trying to talk to her. "Um... Nothing. I don't know what to say."

Landread was surprised by her reaction to him. He'd never had someone be scared of him before. "Uh, sorry." He leaned back in his chair. "I'm sure the teacher may be able to help you out with it if you have any questions."
Kylianne leaned over to Alli's desk. "What did you write? I wrote the best I can but I feel like I'm missing something."

Alli smiled at her. "Well I wrote about how awesome I'm going to be and how all of friends are going to be around me and how if I have any money, I'm leaving it to my pets."
Izzy spoke up, "Don't share these too much with your classmates. I have a plan for them. The plan comes with prizes! If you're done you can talk or take you phones out."

"Oooh prizes!" Kylianne got excited. She'd look her paper over more tonight.
Landread took out his phone and texted Karra. "I'm so bored. The teacher had us write our own obituary. She's pretty cool. How's Spanish?"
