Ivan groaned when the bell rang but raised himself from the couch anyway. His freshmen class would begin with the next bell. He flicked on the light and immediately squinted. Walking quickly through the crowd, he made it to his room and set up for the freshman class. He set their syllabi out for him to pass out and erased what he had written on the board for his Sophomore class, leaving his name. They all knew it but he left it regardless. He sat down at his desk and tried to put his hair back again but it was too painful so he left it down. He could feel her moving closer. Was she hurrying? It seemed like she was. He had new boxes to give out to them and sincerely hoped it went better for them than it did for the Sophomores. At least the freshmen all seemed to be friendly towards one another.

Sabine hurried to class, she slowed when she got closer to the door, she didn't want to seem too eager. She just felt more comfortable in his class. She couldn't explain why and she wasn't going to try. "Good Morning again, Mr. Kirowitz." She spoke sweetly before taking a seat in the front row off to the right.
Alli came in after catching Dash. "... and we have to write our obituaries. It's kind strange and creepy, but whatever. And she was standing on the desk when we came in!" She choose a seat close to the middle, expecting Dash and Kieran to sit with her.
Wren came in scolding her brother. "You were flirting with her! You nasty thing!"
"No, I wasn't. I was just drawing. I can't help it if she commented on it and even if I was, at least I'm not trying to start shit with people we barely......" He stopped talking when he looked up and saw that Allison and Dash were already there, he hurried to take a seat, cursing the gods for giving him the same schedule as his sister.

"Good morning again Sabine." Ivan smiled at her, breathed in her scent as she walked by his desk and almost instantly felt better. His headache was nearly gone. Now there were new images floating around his brain of her.
Dash sat down next to Alli and ran his fingers through his damp hair. He had rinsed it but didn't have time to use shampoo so it was started to flip out everywhere. He'd forgotten his comb. "That's kind of awesome, in a really morbid kind of way. I would have taken journalism but Autotech was more important." Kieran sat down with them. Both of them looked up at Wren and Caden arguing as they came in and they could actually understand them.
Noemi came in and sat down bummed. Des wasn't in her core classes which meant he was not a freshman which also meant that she probably only had gym with him. So every time he'd see her she'd be getting flushed and sweaty. Not that that was a bad thing but totally the wrong activity.
Kyli and Lydia came in and sat down in front of Alli's group. Kyli turned around and looked at Dash. "Aww, your hair is all flipped out. It's so cute!" She smiled and turned around. Dash looked at Alli and mouthed, "What the fuck?"

Sabine waved Raven over to sit next to her. "How did Journalism go. I heard Alli talking about you had to write your own obituary? That seems a little odd."
Alli just smirked and tried not to laugh as she ran her fingers through Dash's damp hair, twisting one of the curls around her finger. "It really is just so cute." She tried not to sound like she was mocking Kyli, she was trying to make fun of Dash not the sweet girl in front of them.
"Are you leaving it long this year or are you cutting it after try-outs again?"

Raven sat next to Sabine. "Yeah, well, when we first walked in she was standing on top of her desk. So I was expecting strange. The obits' kind of morbid but it's just writing. And tomorrow we're doing something special with them for prizes. I don't know. So how was Art?"
Dash almost melted into Alli's hand and then she mocked him. He gave her a sour look. "I don't know. Maybe I'll just shave it all off so my helmet feels better." He stuck his tongue out at her.

Sabine blushed again. "It was fine. We just got to sit down at an easel and draw or paint whatever we wanted with whatever we wanted."
Alli noticed the changed in Dash as she had her hands in his hair. Was he actually in to her? And if so, how did she feel about that? "Oh, sweet ten pound baby Jesus, don't you dare! You'll look like a cueball! And I don't think you have the right shaped head for bald. Just keep your hair! There's nothing wrong with it the way it is."

"Gee thanks for the compliment." Dash got out before Ivan started class.
Ivan handed out the syllabi and books, speaking as he went. "You guys learning the basics in English in 101. I like to read. It's what I do in my spare time. So, you will be writing papers. Not long ones but frequently. You'll learn proper grammar, punctuation and you'll learn to become a walking thesaurus. It's all outlined in that piece of paper. A few rules. I don't mind if you have drinks and snacks in my class. It's first thing in the morning and breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But if I have to remind you once that you a crinkling too loud or slurping or if you spill, that privilege will be revoked for that student. Fridays I will provide breakfast. Another thing, I don't like cell phone in my class. This is a very interactive class so looking at your phone will have you lost. Now, before we get started on the lesson for today, I have a fun activity for you. I have these little boxes I'm going to hand out. In each box is five slips of paper. You'll have twenty-five minutes to fill them out and then we will be sharing."
Inside the boxes are five pieces of paper with questions about them: What is your favorite color and why? What is your favorite book and why? If you could go on vacation anywhere, where would you go and why? What is your favorite memory? What is your favorite joke.

Alli looked through her's and filled them out easily. "My favorite color is that blue/purple. The one that's so dark you can't really tell what color it really is. It's the color of the sky right before nightfall. It's my favorite time of day, I love to run in the dark. My favorite book is Hunger Games. I love the story and the action and the fact that it shows girls as strong people without being a wilting damsel in distress. Vacation... I don't care, it just has to have a beach. Memory would be the time that Dash and I went camping with his parents and found the under ground cave! We were down there almost all day, when he got back his Dad was pissed, but we found all kinds of awesome stuff and the clearest water I've ever seen. And Joke.... It's kind of an inside one..." She looked at Dash and smirked. "It's about bloody time!" She roared in laughter as a stupid thing that had happened years ago on a camping trip. She couldn't even remember what it was really about, just that part. They would randomly yell it at each other and crumble into a ball of laughter.

Dash just about lost it. He was happy that he was that important to her that he was part of her favorite memory. He remembered that trip all too well. He filled his out. "My favorite color is blue because I love to swim and the best places to swim have that deep color. My favorite book is The Green Mile. It took me forever to read and then I actually got mad when the movie butchered it. Vacation spot would be Hawaii, again swimming and I want to learn how to snorkel. My favorite memory is the winter that we had all that snowfall and Alli and I made those really awesome snow forts. That was until they caved in on us and my dad had to dig us out. He was pissed. And well, my favorite joke was already told."

Alli just smiled at him. He was her best friend! They had been inseparable since his parents moved in next to her's when she was five.
Wren went next. "Favorite color is purple, it's the color of royalty and it looks great on me." She gave a grin that said she was only half joking. "Favorite book is "Narcissus in Chains". It was wonderfully written and I read it all in three days. Vacation would be Italy, I want to see all the canals and Italian food is my favorite. My favorite memory is making popcorn garland with my mom the last Christmas before she passed away. And my favorite joke involves a Duck and some grapes!" She smiled and sat down next to her brother.

Raven stood up and read off her list. "Favorite color, black because it is the absence of color. My favorite book is difficult to explain. There's a book series I'm reading by Christine Feehan called the Dark series. My favorite of the whole thing so far is the one about a character named Gregori. My vacation would be Romania because I'd like to hike the Carpathian mountains. My favorite memories are of watching cartoons with my grandfather on saturday mornings. And my joke, is highly inappropriate for school but it has to do with a Scot and a drinking game."
Ivan couldn't believe his ears. The girl not only mentioned Gregori but their home as well. He made a mental note to do some research on this Christine Feehan.

Caden spoke up. "My favorite color is grey, there is such depth in grey. It can be the fading of the light or the rise of it. My favorite book is Machiavelli's Prince, he was a crazy war genius. My Vacation would be France, I've always wanted to see the catacombs and cathedrals. Or Prague to see the Cathedral of Bones. Morbid, I know. Sorry. Um, anyway. Memory would have to be the same as Wren's. And my joke... Um, I'm bad with jokes. Um, How do you make a hankie dance? You put a little boogie in it." He sat quickly feeling slightly embarassed

Kyli stood with a smile. "My favorite color is gold because that's what color jewelry I like to wear. My favorite book is Elizabeth's Wolf because it's very unique to everything else I've ever read and the main character shares the name of one of my friends. My vacation spot would be Jamaica because it's so beautiful down there and there's tons of stuff to do. My favorite memory is the vacation I took to my uncle's house ranch in Colorado. I had so much fun and I love riding horses. And my joke: what do you call a man with no arms and no legs in the ocean? Bob." She giggled and sat down.
Ivan smiled and then purposely looked at Sabine. He wanted her answers to his questions. He'd rather learn about her the old fashioned way than go digging around in her head.

Sabine blushed slightly under Ivan's gaze. She stood.
"My favorite color is yellow, because it bright and joyful. My favorite book is Little Women, I love Louisa May Alcott and it was the first book I was able to read to my mom. My dream vacation would be anywhere further north where I could see the northern lights or to Paris to see the Louvre. My favorite memory is when my parents and I went to the Nelson Atkins museum even I was little. And how do Reavers clean their pikes? Then run then through the Wash."
She looked around ava saw a few people giggle. But most we're just looking at her with a blank stare.

Ivan couldn't help but chuckle. So she was a Firefly fan. They'd definitely have things to talk about. He wanted to be the one to take her to see the northern lights. He'd only seen pictures but they looked beautiful. Most of all he wanted to see her face when she saw them. He'd have to do some research.
