Email in Anna's inbox on Monday morning:
Good morning Miss Tate,
My name is Christopher Drakoulias and I am looking for a school in the Kansas City area for my son. He was homeschooled for the first part of his school career (K-8) and I have tried three schools for his Freshman year. None of the schools have met my standards. I don't mean to sound ostentatious. I really don't hold high standards for the school I choose to enroll him in. However, there is one priority that must be met: a strict policy against bullying.
My son is unique in his way of expressing himself and has a very creative mind. He is not clinically depressed nor is he suicidal, which the other schools have assumed on his behalf. He is mentally sane, incredibly intelligent and ready to start his Sophomore year. If you are willing to take such a student on, I would love to sit down and talk to you. My number is attached. Call me any time.
Thank you for your consideration,
Christopher Drakoulias, JSD Lathrop & Gage LLP (913) 555-3521

Anna sat down at her desk and read over the e-mail, while the man did come across as pissy and pretentious she still had to give the boy a shot, or at least take the time to respond to him. She had considered herself a pretty staunch opponent of bullying and while she knew that it was impossible to treat them all with kid gloves, kids were going to disagree and fight her treatment of Keira and Kaleb made her feel like she had it fairly well under control. She picked up and dialed the number, a little disheartened that she had to ask for that particular last name.
"Good Morning, I'm trying to reach Mr. Drakoulias?"

Chris' secretary rung into his office with a phone call. When he asked who it was she had no idea. He needed a new secretary. He rolled his eyes but put a smile on his face as he answered the phone.
"This is Christopher Drakoulias. How can I help you today?"

"Good Morning, Mr. Drakoulias, This is Annaleigh Tate, the principal at Turner High School. I was giving you a call in regards to the email you had sent me."

"Ah yes Miss Tate. Thank you for calling me back. Most of the other schools haven't bothered. I guess my email sounded a bit conceited. I assure you I am not. It's just the way I speak. Would you like to set up a time to talk or will a phone interview suffice?"

"It is whatever you feel more comfortable with. We can speak now or I can set up at time for you and your son to come in when it will be convenient for you." He did sound like a bit of a prick, but so did most of her family ninety percent of the time, so really.... She was used to it.

"I would like for you to meet my son that way you know what you are getting into. I'm free any time today or tomorrow. When would be a good time for you?" The boy was going on about the continuation of his home schooling and that wasn't happening. He needed to stop living inside his own head and be socialized.

"How about this afternoon, one or one thirty? Will that work for you?" The way he was speaking really wasn't giving her much hope for the mental state of the child that was going to be brought to meet her.

"We can meet you at one. Thank you for this opportunity." He was smiling again, genuinely this time. He had high hopes for this school, despite the previous comments about it, due to management change.

"Absolutely. I look forward to meeting you both. Have a wonderful day and see you soon." She hung up the phone and sent an email to both Dante and Damien about the situation and the meeting that was to be had.

"Same to you." He hung up the phone quite satisfied with the outcome.
Damian sent an email back saying he'd be there.
Dante stopped by the office. "Did you want me to sit in on the meeting or is this a Principal/Vice Principal only type of thing?"

"For now I think It's a Principal thing. Apparently Damien is sitting in as well. Depending on how it goes I may be calling you in to meet the Father anyway to assure them that we take every precaution to handle bullying in a very serious manner." She just tried to remember that she wanted this job. Though in times like this, she couldn't remember why.

Dante cracked a smile. "The new kid a bully or he being bullied?"

"From the sound of it, he's being bullied. Was Homeschooled for K through eighth grade. Went through three schools last year. They didn't meet his father's standards." She gave him a droll look.

He chuckled. "Sounds like a wonderful family. I can't wait to meet them." He rolled his eyes. He hoped the kid wasn't as bad as the parent.
